As you may know, every primary school in the country has been provided with sports funding to be used to raise the standard of PE in primary schools.
At Blandford St Mary, we have decided to use this funding to provide the children with new opportunities and specialist coaching. We are also using the money to up skill our teaching staff, to ensure that we maintain high standards of PE teaching and learning in school.
So far this year, we have employed the services of a tennis coach and a rugby specialist to coach the children, whilst the teaching staff use the opportunity to observe, and develop their skills.
We have now kick started December with a gymnastics focus. We have been fortunate enough to employ the services of Dave Eldridge and Rachel McKinney, lecturers in PE at Chichester University to support both staff and pupils, in what proved to be a really productive day for all those involved.

ELITE TENNIS COACHING
Last week we were lucky enough to have Simon Kevern return to BSM to work with a select group of children.
Simon was very impressed with the level of ability shown by all the children, but particularly our year 6 students, particularly in comparison to other schools in our network. Testiment to the hardwork and effort of both staff and pupils.
